Mass Times Australia

How times are sourced

This site publishes Mass times from parish bulletins, updated weekly, covering Catholic dioceses in Australia. It is not an official diocesan publication. Trust the porch bulletin if a time disagrees.

  1. 1. Method. Each parish has one or more sources: a bulletin index, a Mass times page, or a direct PDF. We extract day, clock, language, vigil notes, and feast-day overrides. The file is then deleted. There is no bulletin archive.
  2. 2. Cadence. Sources are visited on a weekly rhythm driven by Saturday bulletins. Re-fetch. Do not treat last month’s scrape as current.
  3. 3. Source order. Parish bulletin first. If the bulletin is missing or dead, the parish website Mass-times page. If that is also missing, a diocese or archdiocese directory row, marked as fallback. The church page names which of those was used, and the bulletin date when there is one. It says “this week” only when that date is this week. It does not treat a social profile, or a page with no published times, as a parish source. We do not invent times. Trust the porch bulletin if a published time disagrees.
  4. 4. Confidence, not guesswork. Low-confidence extracts keep the previous reliable timetable rather than guessing.

Machines: llms.txt, churches feed, masses feed, sitemap. Humans: report a mistake.
